Workers at Google Express Delivery Service Seek to Unionize

USA Today (07/27/15) Mike Snider

More than 140 warehouse and shipping workers at Google Express in Palo Alto, CA, are seeking to improve wages, working conditions, and workplace treatment. The workers, who are employed by Adecco, have asked the Teamsters to represent them in negotiations intended to achieve these goals. The workers claim they have been forced to work faster in poor conditions, with damaged equipment, cracked floors, and failing electrical systems that have resulted in fires. They also take issue with Adecco’s short-term employment agreements, which require workers to leave after two years. The request for union representation would be in line with the expansion of organized labor’s recent Silicon Valley push.

Become an ASA Approved Continuing Education Provider

ASA has launched its Approved Continuing Education Provider program, which validates educational programs that provide continuing education hours toward ASA certification renewal.

Under the ACEP program, ASA reviews content from companies that provide educational material related to staffing and recruiting. If their material is approved, companies may display the ACEP seal on their educational offerings, indicating that they meet ASA standards for quality and content. The ACEP seal distinguishes industry trainers, suppliers, and staffing companies that have been approved to award CE credits toward maintaining ASA credentials.
