Kforce Inc. Reports Revenues of $265.6 Million and Earnings of $0.09 Per Share

Kforce Inc. reported revenues of $265.6 million for the first quarter of 2013, down 1.6% from $269.8 million during the fourth quarter of 2012 and 1% from $268.4 million during the year-ago period. The company’s net income was $3.1 million, down from $8.6 million during the fourth quarter of 2012 and $4.1 million during the first quarter of last year. Its temporary staffing revenue was $254.1 million, down 1.8% from $258.7 million in the fourth quarter of last year and 1.3% from $257.3 million during the year-ago period, while search revenues were $11.6 million, up 4.1% from $11.1 million in the fourth quarter and 4.9% from $11 million in the first quarter of 2012.

“The challenges to revenue growth continue to be on the supply side, where candidates remain in extremely short supply and typically have multiple opportunities from which to choose. In this regard, we’re expending significant effort to educate our clients in this war for talent, with the intent of accelerating hiring decisions on resources that have been identified,” says David L. Dunkel, Kforce’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Team Health Holdings Inc. Announces First Quarter 2013 Financial Results

Team Health Holdings Inc. reported net revenue of $575.9 million for the first quarter of 2013, up 20.3% from $478.7 million during the same period last year. The company’s net earnings were $18.2 million, up from $14.4 million in the first quarter of 2012.

Scottsdale’s Technology Staffing Solutions Purchased by NY Firm

Scottsdale, AZ-based Technology Staffing Solutions has been acquired by Solü Technology Partners of Rochester, NY, as part of the company’s national expansion plan. TSS founder Jim O’Brien will be made sales manager of Solü’s new Phoenix-area office, located in the Scottsdale office of TSS.

“With this acquisition we will strengthen our presence in Phoenix, which is one of the fastest growing markets in the U.S., expand our combined national client base, and increase project opportunities for all our consultants,” says Jim Smith, president of Solü, a provider of such managed services as application and web development, content development, and custom application development.

Small-Business Hiring Pace Picks Up, Revenue Falls

Small businesses picked up their hiring pace slightly in April, according to a survey released Tuesday by software maker Intuit. Small companies added 20,000 jobs, up from a revised 15,000 in March and a revised 14,000 in February. The rate of hiring was still down from January, when a revised 27,000 jobs were added. Workers’ average monthly pay fell $9, a drop of 0.4%, following an increase of $12 in March. The average monthly hours that employees worked fell 48 minutes, or 0.8%, compared with an increase of 18 minutes in March.
