U.S. Consumer Prices Up 0.3% in June

Wall Street Journal (07/17/15) Eric Morath; Kate Davidson

The consumer-price index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.3% in June from a month earlier, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Friday. Prices for gasoline, food, and shelter all increased last month. Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, so-called core prices increased 0.2%. Both measures matched the forecasts of economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal. Compared with a year earlier, overall prices rose 0.1%, marking the first annual increase since December. Core prices were up 1.8% from a year earlier.

Philadelphia Fed: Manufacturing Activity Increased in July

Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia (07/16/15)

Manufacturing activity in the Mid-Atlantic region increased modestly in July, according to firms responding to this month’s Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. However, the survey’s broadcast measure of manufacturing conditions, the diffusion index of current activity, decreased from 15.2 in June to 5.7 in July. Firms’ responses suggest steady employment in July, as the percentage of firms reporting an increase in employees in July was equal to the percentage reporting a decrease (12%). The current employment index did however fall for the third consecutive month, dropping 4.2 points to -0.4. Firms reported a modest overall increase in the workweek index, with a positive but little changed 4.0.

Become an ASA Approved Continuing Education Provider

ASA has launched its Approved Continuing Education Provider program, which validates educational programs that provide continuing education hours toward ASA certification renewal.

Under the ACEP program, ASA reviews content from companies that provide educational material related to staffing and recruiting. If their material is approved, companies may display the ACEP seal on their educational offerings, indicating that they meet ASA standards for quality and content. The ACEP seal distinguishes industry trainers, suppliers, and staffing companies that have been approved to award CE credits toward maintaining ASA credentials.
