Got Standout Talent? Nominate Your Staffing Stars—Deadline Approaching

Earn recognition for your firm’s best temporary or contract employees—and leverage that recognition to differentiate your firm in your most competitive markets. Nominate outstanding performers for the National Staffing Employee of the Year program. Entries are due May 1.

The program celebrates temporary and contract employees who are outstanding performers and exemplify the promise of staffing employment. Finalists, called “All-Stars,” are also recognized—if merited—in five industry sectors: engineering, information technology, and scientific; health care; industrial; office‒clerical and administrative; and professional‒managerial. Sponsored by StaffPRO3, a division of PMC Insurance Group.

ASA Hall of Fame Inductee Richard Essey Passes Away

Longtime staffing industry leader Richard P. “Dick” Essey passed away last week. Essey, who founded the TemPositions Group of Cos. in 1962, was inducted into the ASA Leadership Hall of Fame in 1985. He was the 1974 president of the National Association of Temporary Services, later renamed the American Staffing Association.

ASA president and CEO Richard Wahlquist said, “All of us learned so much from Dick over the years. He was a fierce champion for advocacy and for advancing industry professionalism. Most important, he was a visionary and one of the key architects of the strong foundation upon which ASA is based today. He will be missed.”

ASA past chairman James Essey said, “Because of the success of his staffing business, my dad felt an obligation to give back. He was one of the early founders of the American Staffing Association and also helped found the New York chapter. He was elected president of both organizations.”
