The nation’s economy continued to improve, according to the Federal Reserve Board’s latest report on regional economies (known as the “beige book”). Employment conditions remained mostly unchanged, with limited reports of hiring in the manufacturing, residential construction, information technology, and professional services sectors. Wage pressures were generally contained, with some districts experiencing skilled labor shortages in information technology, construction, and engineering.
