Oxford Consulting Group, a Westerville, OH-based information technology services and staffing firm, has acquired Chase Consultancy Ltd. Oxford acquired the U.K.-based IT consulting firm to expand its European presence, which was established earlier this year with an office in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Buyers of a business generally expect sellers to be responsible for certain liabilities relating to when the seller owned its business—a concept mergers and acquisitions professionals refer to as indemnification. Indemnification is one of the most heavily negotiated, and potentially most significant, provisions of a purchase agreement, and understanding the terminology common to such agreements is essential when negotiating a deal. Private-sector job growth increased in May, adding 135,000 jobs to the U.S. economy, according to Automatic Data Processing. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecasted a gain of 170,000 jobs, compared with an April estimate of 119,000 private-sector jobs gained. ADP today revised April’s private-sector job increase to 113,000.
