This Wall Street Journal editorial criticizes the lawsuits unveiled this week by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against employers regarding their background check policies. The EEOC alleges that the criminal checks it filed suit against result in discrimination against African Americans, but the editorial notes that “such criminal checks are legal and have long been part of the hiring process at many companies,” and that “business owners and managers ought to be able to decide if they want to take the risk of hiring felons.”
