More U.S. workers than expected filed applications last week for unemployment benefits, indicating progress on cutting unemployment continues to be uneven amid slower growth this quarter. Claims for jobless benefits rose by 18,000 to 354,000 in the week ended June 15 from a revised 336,000 a week earlier, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. A median forcast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg had anticipated claims of 340,000.
