The number of people who applied for unemployment benefits rose to a two-month high last week. As auto plants close in July for annual retooling, volatile jobless applications are expected. Jobless claims rose 16,000 to 360,000 in the week ended July 6, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast a decrease to 340,000. The four-week moving average of new jobless claims climbed to 351,750 last week from 345,750.
