The Senate Labor Committee has advanced the nomination of Richard Griffin Jr. as general counsel of the U.S. National Labor Relations Board. The committee also advanced the nomination of Scott Dahl as inspector general of the U.S. Department of Labor. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), the committee’s top Republican, indicated he has “no doubt” that Griffin will be confirmed, while voicing concerns that Griffin will be a union advocate in employer-labor disputes. Last week, President Obama appointed David Weil to head DOL’s Wage and Hour Division, a pick that may be contended.
