U.S. jobless claims fell last week, indicating progress in the labor market and possible employer optimism about the demand outlook. Claims declined by 5,000 to 305,000 in the week ended Sept. 21, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. A Bloomberg forecast of economists had anticipated an increase to 325,000 claims. The less-volatile four-week moving average declined to 308,000 from 315,000 a week earlier.
