Net revenues for 2013 totalled $2.09 billion, down 6.91% from $2.25 billion in 2012. The company reported a net loss for 2013 of $30.9 million, compared with a net loss of $13.6 million in 2012.

General Employment Enterprises Inc. reported net revenues of $46.5 million for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2013, up 4% from $44.6 million the prior fiscal year. The company also reported a net loss of $1.6 million, compared with a net loss of $0.9 million during the year-ago period.

Guardian HealthStaff LLC, a sister company of SEEK Careers/Staffing Inc., has acquired Integrated Staffing Network, a Wisconsin-based health care staffing service.

Health care staffing is continuing to grow at a fast pace, and so are the patients who need medical treatment. According to the American Staffing Association, staffing employment is up 6.9% since the beginning of this month. Since the beginning of 2013, temporary and contract employment has grown 18.2%. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects growth rates for registered nurses of 26%, respiratory therapists 28%, and medical assistants 31%.

Industrial production increased for the fifth consecutive month in December, according to the U.S. Federal Reserve. Industrial production rose 0.3% following a gain in November that was revised down from 1.1% to 1.0%. The gain in December marked an all-time high and was in line with the consensus estimates of economists.

The Institute for Supply Management-Chicago business barometer for December has been revised to 60.8 from 59.1. The new orders index for December has been revised to 63.3 from 60.7.

The employment index has been revised to 54.3 from 51.6. The Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index for December has been revised to 60.2 from 57.9, and the prices paid component has been revised to 61.6 from 63.3.

Congress yesterday sent President Obama a $1.1 trillion spending bill. The Senate voted by a 72-26 margin in favor of the measure, which cleared the House Wednesday. The president is expected to sign the bill in time to prevent any interruption in government funding.
