Inland Empire Distribution Center Settles Complaint With Workers

San Bernardino County Sun (California) (02/17/14) Lori Fowler

The U.S. National Labor Relations Board has settled a series of complaints filed by the Warehouse Worker Resource Center against warehouse operator National Distribution Centers Inc. and Warestaff LLC, a staffing firm. The complaints alleged that Walmart retaliated against workers who went on strike to protest unsafe and illegal working conditions at its Jurupa Valley distribution center in Riverside County, CA. Monetary details regarding the settlement were not released.

Workers originally complained about dangerous machinery and not being allowed to take breaks on hot days. After warehouse workers went on strike, workers complained about retaliation for the protest in the form of firings, layoffs, and sending workers home.
