The consumer price index increased a seasonally adjusted 0.1% in July, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. There was a 0.1% increase in core prices excluding food and energy costs. Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal had predicted a 0.1% increase with a 0.2% rise in core prices. The index is up 2.0% from the same time last year.
