Corporate Resource Services Inc. reported $246.1 million in revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2014, up 24% from $199.1 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2013. Net income totaled $330,000, compared with net income of $1.3 million in the year-ago quarter.

The economy grew at an annual pace of 4.6% in the second quarter, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, matching its best performance since the end of the recession in mid-2009. Real gross domestic product was revised upward from 4.2% due to higher exports and business investment. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had forecast that GDP would be revised up to a seasonally adjusted 4.7%.
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City (09/25/14)
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s September Manufacturing Survey revealed that growth in 10th District manufacturing activity edged higher, and producers’ expectations for future activity maintained their recent solid levels. The month-to-month composite index rose from 3 in August to 6 in September. The employment index rose from negative 4 to 7. Several producers commented that they are having difficulty finding skilled workers or filling open jobs, resulting in some wage pressures.
