Adecco Group reported revenues of €5.2 billion for the third quarter of 2014, up 3% (4% in constant currency) from the third quarter of 2013. Net income totaled €198 million, up 4.2% from €190 million in the year-ago quarter.

North American revenues totaled €986 million, up 5% on a year-to-year basis. In North America, professional staffing revenues rose 3%, with gains in information technology (2%), engineering and technical (1%), finance and legal (5%), and medical and science (15%).

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. News Release (11/05/14)

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. reported revenues of $188.9 million for the third quarter of 2014, up 75% from $108 million in the third quarter of 2013. The company reported a net loss of $7.5 million, compared with net income of $1.5 million in the year-ago quarter. The third quarter results include the company’s acquisition of Medical Staffing Network, which closed June 30.

Revenues totaled $147.5 million for its nurse and allied staffing segment, up 125% from $65.6 million in the 2013 third quarter, and $32.3 million for its physician staffing segment, down 3% from $33.4 million a year ago.

RCM Technologies News Release (11/05/2014)

RCM Technologies Inc. reported revenues of $46.4 million for the third quarter of 2014, up 12.3% from $41.3 million in the third quarter of 2013. The company reported net income of $1.9 million, up 64.4% from $1.1 million a year earlier.

CTPartners Executive Search Inc. reported net revenues of $45.4 million for the third quarter of 2014, up 39.6% from $32.6 million in the third quarter of 2013. North American revenue totaled $25.9 million, up 38.6% in the year-ago quarter. The company also reported net income of $1.4 million, up 179% from $502,000 in the 2013 third quarter, due in part to the integration of acquired businesses.

Command Center Inc. reported revenues of $27.7 million in the third quarter of 2014, up 7.0% from $25.9 million in the third quarter of 2013. The company reported net income of $6.0 million in the third quarter, up 21.7% from $1.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The Institute for Supply Management’s nonmanufacturing purchasing managers index dropped to 57.1 in October from 58.6 in September. Experts surveyed by the Wall Street Journal had forecast a reading of 58.0. Last month’s hiring hit a cycle high, and the U.S. service sector remained in expansion, according to ISM.

Markit’s service sector composite PMI fell to 57.1 in October from 58.9 the previous month. Service providers reported less confidence about the near-term outlook, according to Markit.

The number of people applying for unemployment benefits in the week ended Nov. 1 fell by 10,000 to a three-week low of 278,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The 50 economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast claims of 285,000. The four-week moving average of new claims dropped by 2,250 to 279,000, the lowest level in more than 14 years.
