U.S. consumer sentiment rose in January to its highest point in 11 years, according to the Thomson Reuters and University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey. The survey’s final reading was 98.1, up from December’s final reading of 93.6, but down slightly from the preliminary January reading of 98.2. Economists surveyed by Reuters had forecast a reading of 98.2.
