U.S. government data show a 1% drop in orders for goods produced in U.S. factories in May. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 0.5% decline.
Orders for durable goods decreased 2.2%, exceeding economists’ forecast of a 1.8% decline. Orders for nondurable goods rose 0.2%.
