Orders for goods produced in U.S. factories dropped 1.7% in August, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had forecast a 1.3% decline in orders. Orders for durable goods fell 2.3% in August, and orders for nondurable goods declined 1.1% in the same period.
