U.S. factory orders rose 1.5% in October, after two consecutive months of declines, reports the U.S. Department of Commerce. The rebound was helped by rising demand for aircraft, computers, and machinery. Orders in the volatile aircraft category climbed 81% in October, orders for computers and electronics increased 1.9%, and machinery orders advanced by 1.2%. A separate category that serves as a proxy for business investment spending also improved, rising 1.3%.
