Participate in the ASA Quarterly Staffing Employment and Sales Survey

The association’s quarterly Staffing Employment and Sales Survey for the first quarter of 2023 will close next Friday, May 19. Staffing companies that complete the brief survey—including search and placement firms—will have access to an exclusive report on the results, enhanced with graphs. The report, which participants can download from the ASA website, also includes an executive summary, plus sales category and sector-level data. There are no fees to participate.

The data collected by this survey enable ASA to track staffing sales and gross margin trends and provide direct hire metrics. Register to take the survey, or view the questionnaire, at americanstaffing.net/quarterly-survey.

ASA Scholarship Available for Women Leaders—Two Weeks Left to Apply

The ASA Women in Leadership Scholarship Program aims to raise the visibility of women in the staffing industry as well as provide scholarships that cover registration fees for Staffing World®, the ASA annual convention and expo (Oct. 3–5 in Charlotte, NC), as well as the THRIVE: Women in Leadership preconvention program (Oct. 2–3 in Charlotte).

ASA will award scholarships to rising stars who are committed to a career in staffing and have shown career growth potential. Find out more and submit your application at americanstaffing.net. Applications are due May 22.

Buyer Beware: Employee Health Plans Offering Big Tax Savings

ASA has published a new issue paper by noted industry benefits counsel Alden Bianchi on the most recent wave of employee health plans being offered to staffing firms that promise substantial employer tax savings. The paper “Buyer Beware: The Newest Wave of Hospital/Fixed Indemnity Programs Promising Payroll Tax Savings” explains the applicable rules and discusses why these plans could expose employers to significant liability risks under federal tax and other laws. Bianchi will discuss the issues covered in the paper during a session at the ASA Staffing Law Conference, which takes place next week—May 18–19 at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, DC.
