Free Online Course Addresses ASA Members’ Top Worries

ASA recognizes that one of the top issues keeping staffing and recruiting professionals up at night is growing their talent pipeline amid an ongoing talent shortage. Communicating to job seekers in a way that resonates and captures their interests has never been more critical.

The association has conducted extensive research to understand the mindset of today’s job seeker and has debuted an online course in conjunction with the New Language of Staffing handbook and resulting strategies. The “New Language of Staffing” course—exclusively for staffing professionals with ASA member firms—features video modules, online quizzes, and more. It’s part of the “Fundamentals of Recruiting” online course module in the ASA Onboarding Series on ASA Learn. ASA-certified professionals who complete the course earn 0.5 hours of continuing education toward ASA certification renewal.

ASA Announces First Women in Leadership Scholarship Recipients

ASA today announced the inaugural class of Women in Leadership Scholarship recipients. The Women in Leadership Scholarship program honors rising stars in the staffing and recruiting who show exemplary professional growth potential and a commitment to a career in the industry. The 2020 honorees are Brenna Barnett, Carlton Staffing director of marketing, and Madelyn Varner, Randstad area director of East Carolina. They will receive complimentary registration packages to attend the virtual events Staffing World® 2020 and THRIVE 2020.

“ASA is thrilled to announce the first recipients of the Women in Leadership Scholarship awards,” said ASA women in leadership interest group chairman Sara Luchsinger, CSP, of SEEK Careers/Staffing. “This scholarship program rewards young leaders with great potential, like Brenna and Madelyn, with the opportunity to attend ASA premier events at no cost to assist in their continued professional development, and also supports the advancement of women leaders in staffing.”

This scholarship program is possible thanks to support from Assurance, founding sponsor of the ASA women in leadership interest group. Additional women in leadership interest group sponsors are Anthem, Bullhorn, ClearEdge Marketing, Mee Derby, and WorkN.
