ManpowerGroup Reports First Quarter 2013 Results

ManpowerGroup News Release (04/19/13)

ManpowerGroup today reported that net earnings for the three months ended March 31 were $23.9 million, a decrease of 6% from a year earlier. Revenues for the first quarter were $4.8 billion, a decrease of 6% from the prior-year period.

U.S. revenues for the quarter totaled $706.1 million, a decrease of 4% from a year earlier. The U.S. unit’s operating profit was $7.4 million, a 7.9% increase from the prior-year period.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for the U.S. Declines Slightly

Conference Board News Release (04/18/13)

Following gains of 0.5% in both January and February, the Conference Board’s Leading Economic Index for the U.S. slipped 0.1% in March. “Data for March reflect an economy that has lost some steam,” says Ken Goldstein, an economist at the Conference Board. “The biggest challenge remains weak demand, due to nervous consumer sentiment and slow income growth.”
