The latest National Academy of Social Insurance report reveals that employer costs related to workers’ compensation claims rose 7.1% in 2011 to $77.1 billion, while injured workers received $60.2 billion in benefits that year, reflecting a 3.5% increase in benefits. The benefits include a 4.5% increase in medical spending and a 2.6% increase in wage replacement benefits.
