ApTask Announces Acquisition of Rochester Global Ltd.

New Jersey-based staffing firm ApTask has acquired the London-based staffing firm Rochester Global Ltd., which will serve as the headquarters for ApTask’s European and African operations. The acquisition also will give Rochester’s clients access to ApTask’s comprehensive work force solutions, including managed staffing programs, vendor management systems, and complete recruitment process outsourcing alternatives.

Employer Health Coverage Premiums Rise Slowly Again This Year

Premiums for employer health coverage increased fairly slowly this year, according to a survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The increase—from an annual rate of $15,745 in 2012 to $16,351—represented the same rate of growth as a year ago. This likely reflects employees’ continued tendency to limit their use of medical care, says Gary Claxton, vice president of the foundation.

Workers’ Compensation Benefits, Employer Costs Rise: Study

The latest National Academy of Social Insurance report reveals that employer costs related to workers’ compensation claims rose 7.1% in 2011 to $77.1 billion, while injured workers received $60.2 billion in benefits that year, reflecting a 3.5% increase in benefits. The benefits include a 4.5% increase in medical spending and a 2.6% increase in wage replacement benefits.
