TeamHealth Acquires Professional Anesthesia Services

TeamHealth Holdings News Release (12/20/13)

TeamHealth Holdings Inc. has announced the acquisition of the operations of Omaha, NE-based Professional Anesthesia Services LLP. Professional Anesthesia Services’ physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists manage more than 18,000 cases annually through anesthesia management services for Bergan Mercy Medical Center and three ambulatory surgery centers.

Consumer Spending in U.S. Increases by Most in Five Months

Consumer spending rose in November by the most in five months, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Household purchases, which account for nearly 70% of the economy, rose 0.5%, after rising 0.4% in October. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted a rise of 0.5%. Incomes climbed less than forecast. Consumer spending rose 2.0% in the third quarter of 2013.

Economic Growth in U.S. to Quicken Next Year, Lagarde Says

In response to the economic stability portended by the recent budget deal and the U.S. Federal Reserve’s plan to taper its stimulus, the International Monetary Fund is raising its outlook on the U.S. economy. In October, the IMF predicted the U.S. economy would expand 2.6% in 2014. The jobless rate is expected to continue to decline.
