CDI Corp. reported revenue of $277.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2013, up 2.4% from $270.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, and $1.088 billion for all of 2013, down 1.5% from $1.105 billion in 2012. Net income totaled $2.4 million in the fourth quarter, down 52% from $5 million in the year-ago quarter, and $12.9 million for the year, down 32.5% from $19.1 million in 2012. Revenue for the company’s professional services staffing segment totaled $180.7 million in the fourth quarter, up 3.3% from $174.9 million, and $708.6 million for all of 2013, down 0.24% from $710.3 million.

Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. News Release (02/25/14)

Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. reported net revenue of $118 million for the fourth quarter of 2013, up 13.6% from $103.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, and $462 million for all of 2013, up 4.1% from $443.8 million in 2012. Net income totaled $1.5 million in the fourth quarter, compared with a net loss of $0.4 million in the year-ago quarter, and $6.3 million for 2013, up 1.6% from $6.2 million in 2012. Net revenue for the Americas totaled $63.8 million in the fourth quarter, up 10.4% from $57.8 million, and $256.7 million for 2013, up 0.9% from $254.4 million.

Conference Board News Release (02/25/14)

The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell moderately from 79.4 in January to 78.1 in February. The decline was driven by the Expectations Index, which dropped from 80.8 to 75.7. The Present Situation Index, by contrast, climbed from 77.3 to 81.7.

Consumers’ appraisal of current conditions improved for the fourth consecutive month. Those claiming business conditions are “good” increased from 20.8% to 21.5%, while those claiming business conditions are “bad” declined from 23.4% to 22.6%. Consumers’ assessment of the labor market also improved. Those claiming jobs are “plentiful” rose from 12.5% to 13.9%, while those saying jobs are “hard to get” decreased slightly from 32.7% to 32.5%.
