ZRG Partners Inc. an executive search and talent management firm based in Massachusetts, has announced it has acquired New Directions Search, a retained search firm headquartered in Wheaton, IL. New Directions Search serves the manufacturing and industrial segments.

U.S. consumer spending rose 0.4% in January, up from a downwardly revised 0.1% in December, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Consumer spending accounts for 70% of the U.S. economy. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast a rise of 0.1%. Hiring improvements and increasing housing prices likely will drive consumer spending growth in the future.

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans says the central bank should permit inflation to rise above its 2% target if that would help the economy improve faster. Evans’ guidance suggests reducing unemployment is a priority.
