Tenet Healthcare, a national hospital chain, may outsource medical work to a physician staffing company at its 12 California facilities. The plan would replace specialty doctor groups with a single company and is opposed by the California Medical Association as well as physicians, physician associates, and medical staff leaders at the affected hospitals. Opponents say outsourcing would disrupt relationships between physicians and hospitals and reduce staff levels and doctors’ pay. Supporters of the plan say it is more efficient and would increase revenue.
