U.S. private employers added 213,000 jobs in September, according to Automatic Data Processing and Moody’s Analytics. Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal had forecast gains of 209,000. Private payrolls have grown by 200,000 or more each of the last six months.
Manufacturing hiring was especially robust in September. Manufacturers added 35,000 jobs, the most since May 2010. Service-sector jobs rose by 155,000 in August, and construction jobs rose by 20,000.
