TrueBlue News Release (10/23/14)
TrueBlue Inc. reported $633 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2014, up 40% from $451 million in the third quarter of 2013. In this morning’s conference call with investors, TrueBlue reported that on an organic basis, excluding the Seaton acquisition, revenues were up 2% year-over-year and—excluding energy-related business—were up 5%. Net income totaled $21 million, up 10.5% from $19 million in the year-ago quarter.
Buyers of a business generally expect sellers to be responsible for certain liabilities relating to when the seller owned its business—a concept mergers and acquisitions professionals refer to as indemnification. TeamHealth Holdings News Release (10/22/14)
TeamHealth Holdings Inc. has acquired Dayton, OH-based Premier Physician Services Inc. Premier provides emergency department, hospital medicine, correctional care, and occupational medicine management and staffing for facilities in Ohio and six other states.
Conference Board News Release (10/23/14)
The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for the U.S. increased 0.8% in September to 104.4, following no change in August.
“The LEI picked up in September, after no change in August, and the strengths among its components have been very widespread over the past six months,” says Ataman Ozyildirim, economist at the Conference Board. “The outlook for improving employment and further income growth are expected to support the moderate expansion in the U.S. economy for the remainder of the year.”
Meanwhile, the Conference Board Coincident Economic Index for the U.S. increased 0.4% in September to 110.2, following a 0.1% increase in August, and the Lagging Economic Index for the U.S. increased 0.1% to 125.1, following a 0.3% increase in August.

The number of people applying for unemployment benefits in the week ended Oct. 18 rose by 17,000 to 283,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The reading was in line with the median forecast of the 52 economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The four-week moving average of new claims dropped by 3,000 to 281,000, the lowest since May 2000.
