The U.S. economy suffered in the first quarter, in part because of harsh winter weather across much of the country. A rebound may be taking place, and economic reports due out this week will either confirm or refute that supposition. Both Wall Street and the U.S. Federal Reserve are expected to take a forward-looking approach, even if the numbers are lackluster.
“The first quarter is going to be a dud and then growth bounces back in the second and third quarters,” says Ryan Sweet, director of real-time economics at Moody’s Analytics.
