Free ASA Webinar Next Week—California’s Pay Data Reporting Requirements

The California Civil Rights Department recently published answers to frequently asked questions on SB 1162, a law enacted last year requiring staffing agencies and their clients to report temporary employee pay data to the state.

Learn about the law’s requirements from Adam P. Romero of the California Civil Rights Department during the ASA webinar “California’s Pay Data Reporting Law, SB 1162: Your Questions Answered.” It takes place Thursday, Feb. 2, 2–3:30 p.m. Eastern time.

All ASA webinars are free for ASA members, and most qualify for continuing education hours toward ASA certification renewal. To learn more and to register, visit americanstaffing.net.

The Law and You—Antidiscrimination Law for Staffing Firms

The new year is a perfect time for staffing professionals to reacquaint themselves with the basics of antidiscrimination law to prepare for potential pitfalls. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Enforcement Guidance on the Application of EEO Laws to Contingent Workers Placed by Temporary Employment Agencies and Other Staffing Firms, which was issued in 1997, may be somewhat dated—but the EEOC has never overruled or updated its enforcement guidance on this subject.

In the latest issue of Staffing Success magazine, get a brief legal refresher on fair practices when placing temporary workers with clients.

How Are Staffing Firms Using Technology?

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, providing innovative new ways to source, engage, select, and hire candidates. Navigating and understanding the technology landscape, however, is a challenge. ASA and Talent Tech Labs ran an industry-wide survey to understand how staffing firms are utilizing technology and how satisfied they are with specific tools and vendors.

Check out the results for help benchmarking your firm’s use of technology and mapping a technology roadmap. There’s an infographic that highlights the most important strategic findings from that survey—including overall industry adoption, satisfaction with vendors, the average number of technology tools that staffing firms use, and even what the actual industry “tech stack” looks like today.
