Deadline This Week—Share Your Staffing World Story for the Chance to Win a Free Registration

Staffing World® is where the staffing community comes together to make strategic connections, learn about new developments, and get solutions to win business and spur growth. This year’s ASA annual convention and expo takes place Oct. 22–24 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN—and ASA is giving you the opportunity to win a free registration package.

Record a 60-second video of yourself telling your Staffing World story—it could be the story of why you love Staffing World, why you want to go, or what your best Staffing World experience has been. Post the video on your LinkedIn profile, tag the American Staffing Association, and include the hashtag #StaffingWorldStory. (Check out the full rules and eligibility requirements at staffingworld.net.)

One winner will receive a free registration package, and everyone who posts a video will receive a discount code—just for participating. You must post your video by this Friday, June 28, for a chance to win.

Free ASA Webinar Tomorrow—Complying With Contracting Regulations

Don’t miss tomorrow’s ASA webinar “Cybersecurity Best Practices for Staffing Agencies,” 2–3 p.m. Eastern time. Cybersecurity has become a critical concern for businesses across all industries, including staffing, and particularly for companies that contract with the federal government. Attorneys Alex L. Sarria and Ashley Powers of Miller & Chevalier will explain what you need to know to ensure compliance with government cybersecurity regulations and requirements. Sponsored by Miller & Chevalier.

All ASA webinars are free for ASA members, and most qualify for continuing education hours toward ASA certification renewal. To learn more and to register, visit americanstaffing.net.

Establish a Strategic Learning and Development Plan—Read Staffing Success Magazine

Many companies find themselves scrambling to address learning and development needs only during annual reviews, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities. But by adopting a strategic approach, employers can foster employee growth and satisfaction and organizational success. In the May–June issue of Staffing Success magazine, Dustin Norwood, ASA vice president and chief learning officer, looks at how your staffing firm can develop a strategic L&D plan that is scalable and effective—and won’t break the bank.

California PAGA Amendments Will Focus Staffing Industry Attention on Preventative Compliance

The California legislature has introduced two bills that, if enacted, will significantly change how employment claims are resolved under the state’s Private Attorneys General Act and create major new incentives for staffing companies to focus on compliance to reduce their exposure to such claims. The legislation is a result of negotiations between business groups, labor groups, and other partes designed to ensure that employees’ labor claims are fairly resolved while reducing costly frivolous lawsuits. If signed into law by June 27, the legislation will avert the PAGA repeal initiative that will otherwise be on the California ballot in November.
