The Law and You—Is Virtual I-9 Here to Stay?

With many employers working remotely from their homes, the government has allowed virtual inspection of the Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of new hires. But how long will employers be legally allowed to continue performing virtual verification of I-9 documents? In the latest issue of Staffing Success magazine, an expert immigration attorney provides updates on virtual inspection of I-9 documents—make sure you’re in compliance.

Help Prevent Workplace Harassment; Comply With the Law

Provide training for temporary workers—and comply with the law—with cost-effective and state-specific training. ASA has introduced a comprehensive online course specifically for staffing company use.

ASA has partnered with Kantola Training Solutions to provide full-service training for the temporary workers staffing companies employ. It allows you to track candidate and employee progress, download status reports, and more. The training was co-developed with Littler, the world’s largest labor and employment law firm.

Visit americanstaffing.net/harassmentprevention for details.
ASA also offers a basic harassment prevention training product in collaboration with the New York Staffing Association, an ASA-affiliated chapter.

Get Free Staffing Employment and Sales Data—Participate in the ASA Quarterly Survey

The association’s quarterly Staffing Employment and Sales Survey for the second quarter of 2020 is now open. Staffing companies that complete the brief survey by Aug. 14 receive an exclusive report on the results, which includes gross margin and sector-level data, in addition to sales and net income projections.

Don’t miss your chance to get the staffing and recruiting data you need. Participate in the survey and compare how your company is doing with similar-sized companies and firms within your industry sector. After completing the survey, you will be able to access an exclusive online report archive, which includes benchmarks for the number of direct hire searches and permanent placements, sector-specific gross margin trends, and payroll and productivity metrics by company size.

Register to take the survey, or view the questionnaire, at americanstaffing.net/quarterly-survey. There are no fees to participate.

ASA Launches National PR Campaign, and You Have a Role to Play

ASA has launched a national public relations campaign with the support of an outside PR agency to promote the interests of the staffing industry in the news media as the nation continues to navigate the Covid-19 pandemic. The goal of the campaign is to spotlight the value of staffing to job seekers and employees, businesses, and the overall U.S. economy. In part, this is being accomplished by sharing real pandemic-related stories of staffing success. And the association needs your help.

Is your staffing company providing jobs to furloughed or laid-off employees or others in need of work? Leading initiatives to train, upskill, and reskill your temporary and contract employees to place them in essential positions or in other jobs that are hiring? Making a difference in the communities where your employees work? If you have stories like these to share, ASA wants to hear from you.

In addition, remember to look to ASA as a resource to your staffing firm when contacted by the news media. The ASA PR team is available to lend its expertise to help vet potential interview opportunities, discuss industry messaging, and to provide additional interview prep support. Email prteam@americanstaffing.net to learn more.
