ASA Staffing Index Rose to 96 in April

Staffing employment for the week of April 7–13 was up 3.32% compared with the same week last year, according to the ASA Staffing Index, which rose to 96. That week is the same one used in the April monthly employment situation report that will be issued May 2 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The ASA Staffing Index is reported nine days after each workweek, making it a near real-time measure of staffing employment trends. ASA research shows that staffing employment is a coincident economic indicator.

TrueBlue Reports 2014 First Quarter Results

TrueBlue Inc. reported revenues of $396 million in the first quarter of 2014, up 14.0% from $346 million in the first quarter of 2013. Management pointed out that, due to 2013 acquisitions, organic year-over-year revenue growth could not be calculated precisely but was in the mid single-digit range, moderated by adverse weather conditions. Net income totaled $1.7 million, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million in the first quarter of 2013.

Seaton Q1 Organic Revenue Growth Surges 29% Year-to-Year

Seaton, a Chicago-based outsourcing and recruiting firm that operates under the Staff Management|SMX, PeopleScout, HRX, and StudentScout brands, today reported revenues of $148 million for the first quarter of 2014, up 31% from $113 million in the first quarter of 2013. Each of the divisions reported strong revenue growth.

CTG Reports 2014 First-Quarter Revenues

CTG reported revenue of $97.9 million for the first quarter of 2014, down 10.0% from $108.5 million in the first quarter of 2013. Net income totaled $3.2 million, down 22.0% from net income of $4.1 million in the year-ago period. Staffing revenue was $59.3 million, down 10.0% from $65.8 million in the 2013 first quarter.

Addison Group Acquires HireStrategy

Addison Group, a provider of professional-sector staffing services, has announced an expansion into the mid-Atlantic region through the acquisition of HireStrategy, a full-service professional-sector staffing firm based in Reston, VA. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
