Foreign manufacturers are being affected by a global slowdown, but low oil prices have helped U.S. factories remain competitive. The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing purchasing managers index fell to 58.7 in November from 59.0 in October. The new orders index increased to a three-month high of 66.0 from 65.8 and the production index dropped to 64.4 from 64.8. The exports index went up to 55.0 from 51.5 and the employment index slowed to 54.9 from 55.5.
