ASA Announces Participants in New Accelerator Program for Women-Owned Businesses

The American Staffing Association Foundation has announced the inaugural participants of its new Accelerator Program, designed to support women entrepreneurs and founders in the early stages of growing their staffing and recruiting businesses, which was established after a generous donation from Dorothy Taylor, 2021 ASA Leadership Hall of Fame inductee and former chief executive officer of World Wide Specialty Programs.

The nine inaugural participants were recognized at THRIVE Live and Staffing World®, the ASA annual convention and expo, in October. Beth Erwin, founder and chief executive officer of three-year-old staffing firm BESTAFF, was named the program’s overall winner and will receive a $15,000 grant to help grow her business. The nine entrepreneurs and founders are taking part in a year-long program that includes attendance at the ASA events THRIVE Live and Staffing World, exclusive monthly peer group sessions, and mentorship through the ASA Mentor Match program. See the full list of participants and learn more about the new ASA Foundation Accelerator Program at americanstaffing.net.

ASA Launches New Anti-Fraud Tool Kit

The association is pleased to announce a new benefit available to members: the ASA Anti-Fraud Tool Kit. The tool kit offers timely, curated resources designed to help firms identify, respond to, and prevent a variety of scams—including payroll fraud, identity theft, “bait and switch” schemes, and more. Packed with downloadable resources, links to federal alerts and support, and on-demand ASA webinars on a variety of fraud tactics, the tool kit can assist staffing employers in today’s challenging environment.

Special thanks to members of the ASA anti-fraud taskforce who volunteered their time and expertise to identify key risk areas as well as credible resources that directly serve the industry in combating fraud. Visit americanstaffing.net/anti-fraud for more details.

ASA Staffing Index: Staffing Index Increases in October

Staffing employment increased during the week of Oct. 13–19, with the ASA Staffing Index growing by 1.1% to a rounded value of 92. Staffing companies cited no one primary factor that hindered growth. Staffing jobs were 2.2% higher compared with the same period last year, up slightly from 2.0% recorded the previous week.

New starts also increased in the 42nd week of the year, up by 1.0% from the prior week. Almost four in 10 staffing companies (38%) reported gains in new assignments week to week, a little below the average of 42% so far in 2025.

The ASA Staffing Index four-week moving average increased from the previous week while holding at a rounded value of 91. Temporary and contract staffing employment for the four weeks ending Oct. 19 was 1.4% higher than during the same period in 2024.

“The staffing industry continues to make steady progress in what is otherwise a sluggish year for the labor market, with the ASA Staffing Index marking its sixth week of positive year-to-year growth,” said Noah Yosif, chief economist at ASA. “Despite economic headwinds, the recent gains forged by staffing companies raise a higher platform to build from in 2026.”
