Join OSHA in National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction

Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 320 of the 1,008 construction fatalities recorded in 2018 (according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. The 2020 National Safety Stand-Down takes place Sept. 14–18. Job sites across the country and internationally pause work so that employers and workers can talk about fall prevention and commit to on-the-job safety.

Participation is not limited to the construction industry, and no business is too small to participate. In previous years, many nonconstruction employers held stand-downs. For more information on the stand-down, visit
